Curio: AI Engineer Map

Privacy Policy

We built Curio to help you learn, not to collect your data. Here is exactly what that means.

No personal data collected No tracking or analytics All data stays on your device Effective: March 14, 2026

1 Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Curio: AI Engineer Map ("Curio", "the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use our iOS and Android application. Curio is developed and operated by Gopal Bagaswar, an independent developer.

The short version Curio stores your learning progress, streaks, quiz scores, and notes exclusively on your device. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. There are no user accounts, no login, no analytics, and no advertising.

This policy applies to the Curio iOS app (bundle ID com.gopal.Curio) and the Curio Android app (package com.gopal.curio). By installing or using the App, you acknowledge you have read and understood this policy.

3 Data We Do Not Collect

The following categories of data are never collected by Curio under any circumstances:

No accounts required Curio has no user registration, no login, and no backend server that stores user data. There is no Curio account associated with you. Your learning data belongs entirely to you.

4 Local Storage

All app data is stored locally on your device using platform-standard storage mechanisms:

iOS

Curio uses SwiftData (Apple's local persistence framework) to store your learning data. This data resides in the app's sandboxed container on your device. It is subject to iOS standard backup and restore behavior:

Android

Curio uses Room database (Google's SQLite abstraction layer) to store your learning data. This data resides in the app's private internal storage directory:

Data loss warning Because all data is stored locally, uninstalling the App will permanently delete your progress, streaks, notes, and quiz history unless you have a backup in place (device backup or CloudKit sync on iOS).

5 CloudKit Sync (iOS, Optional)

Curio for iOS includes an optional iCloud sync feature powered by Apple's CloudKit framework. This feature is not enabled by default and requires explicit action on your part to activate.

What CloudKit sync does

When you choose to enable CloudKit sync, your Curio learning data (progress, streaks, quiz scores, notes, XP) is synchronized to your personal iCloud account. This allows you to:

Who controls the data

CloudKit data is stored in your private iCloud account. Gopal Bagaswar and the Curio development team have no access to your CloudKit data. Apple acts as the data processor under your existing Apple ID agreement. Your data in iCloud is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Enabling and disabling

You can enable or disable iCloud sync at any time from within the App's settings, or by managing app access to iCloud in your iOS Settings under your Apple ID. Disabling sync does not delete data already stored on your device; it only stops future synchronization.

CloudKit is not available on Android The optional CloudKit sync feature is exclusive to iOS. Android users' data remains entirely on-device with no cloud sync component at this time.

6 Third-Party Services

Curio does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or data collection SDKs. We do not share your data with any third parties.

The App may display links or references to external content such as YouTube videos and podcasts as part of the curated curriculum. These links open in your system browser or the YouTube/podcast application on your device. Curio has no control over the privacy practices of those external services. Please review the privacy policies of YouTube (Google LLC) and any podcast platforms you access through those links.

Curio does not use advertising networks, affiliate tracking links, or sponsored content. There are no in-app advertisements and no monetization based on user data.

7 Children's Privacy

Curio is designed for adults who are learning AI engineering and software development concepts. The App is not directed at or intended for children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions).

We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Because Curio collects no personal information from anyone, it is inherently compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and similar regulations internationally.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the App, please contact us at the address in Section 11 and we will take appropriate action.

8 Your Rights and Control

Because all data is stored on your device, you have complete and direct control over it at all times:

Access and deletion

You can view all your data directly within the App. You can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling the App. On iOS, you may also use the "Reset All Data" option within the App's settings if available, or clear app data via iOS Settings.

Data portability

Curio supports curriculum import via JSON file. While full data export is not yet a built-in feature, your data is stored in standard SQLite format on Android (via Room) and SwiftData on iOS, both of which are accessible through device-level backup mechanisms.

GDPR (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including the right to access, correct, and erase your data. Because Curio stores all data locally on your device and transmits none of it to us, you can exercise these rights directly by managing your device and the App. For any questions, contact us at the address in Section 11.

CCPA (California Residents)

Curio does not sell personal information. Because we do not collect personal information, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) disclosure obligations regarding data sale and sharing do not apply. California residents may contact us for any privacy-related inquiries.

9 Data Security

Your data's security is primarily provided by the security mechanisms of your device and operating system:

We recommend using a device passcode and keeping your operating system up to date to maximize the security of your on-device data. Since Curio has no backend servers or databases, there is no server-side data to breach.

10 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the App adds new features. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this document. We will notify you of significant changes through an in-app notice on the next App launch following the update.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. The most current version will always be available within the App and on the App's App Store and Google Play listing pages.

Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
